Basketball Coach
Location: Regina, SK (In-Person)
Hours: Evenings and weekends, 10 to 35 hours a week. You tell us what you can work.
Pay: $18.50 to $25 an hour
We are hiring basketball coaches in Regina to run our weekly skills sessions, school break camps and Young Stars classes. Most of our coaches work evenings and weekends around school or another job.
HoopLife Basketball runs the HoopLife Centre at 661 Solomon Cres in Regina: weekly skills sessions, the HoopLife League, camps through every school break, open gym, and Young Stars for our youngest players. We also run basketball clinics for communities right across Canada, and our own training app, with thousands of drills and workouts built by the same coaches who run the Centre. Everything we do is built to make a young player more confident, on the floor and off it.
What you would do
- Run one-hour skills sessions for players grouped by age and ability, following a written plan we give you for every session.
- Coach school break camps through February, Easter, summer and Christmas.
- Run Young Stars classes for our three to six year olds, where the job is that every child scores before they leave.
- Greet every player and every parent by name, before and after.
- Set up and put away the gym, and keep the floor looking the way we want it to look.
- Complete a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening before your first shift. We walk you through it.
Who this suits
- University and college players looking for part-time work that fits around a schedule.
- Former high school players who want to stay in the game.
- Anybody who has coached a team, at any level, and wants to do more of it.
- Students looking for an evening and weekend job in Regina that is not retail or food service.
- You do not need a coaching certificate. We will teach you how we run a session.
What you get
- A written plan for every session, so you never walk into a gym wondering what to do.
- Coach training and a playbook you can read on your phone before your shift.
- Access to the HoopLife Centre to train on your own time.
- Real hours, and more of them as you take on more.
Questions people ask
Is this a part-time job?
Yes. Most of our coaches are part-time and work evenings and weekends, usually 8 to 20 hours a week. Full-time hours are available if you want them.
Do I need a coaching certificate?
No. An NCCP certificate is a bonus, not a requirement. What we do need is somebody who knows basketball from playing it or coaching it, and who is good with young people. We give you a written plan for every session and train you on how we run them.
What does it pay?
$18.50 to $25 an hour, depending on your experience.
How old do you have to be?
Eighteen and up for coaching. Our scorekeeper job starts at sixteen if you are younger than that and want a way in.
Where is the job?
The HoopLife Centre, 661 Solomon Cres in Regina. It is all in person.

The coaches are outstanding. They are knowledgeable, patient, and truly care about each child's development. They take the time to break down skills, encourage effort, and build confidence in every player... The training sessions are well organized and very effective... You can really see the improvement in skills, teamwork, and overall understanding of the game after just a few sessions... We are extremely happy with our experience and would highly recommend HoopLife Basketball Training to any family looking for a high-quality program where kids can learn, grow, and truly enjoy the game.

We signed up our 8-year-old son for the 3-month membership and have really enjoyed our experience. Logistically, I like that all the sessions are laid out in advance, so you can choose what works best for your schedule. It was a great experience for our son to have different coaches and play with different kids regularly. He really enjoyed the coaches! They were friendly, knowledgeable and really helped him to improve his skills. The facility itself is fantastic, and we're glad we gave this a shot!

…Our son, Keith, not just loves the sport, but he also loves the coaches. We feel very welcome and “at home”, there. They're very friendly to everyone. Also, the skills that they're teaching our son are very helpful for his development. Our son hopes to get accepted in a basketball club while training with HoopLife.
