Regina Science Centre with a toddler: plan the visit before buying a ticket

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is at 2903 Powerhouse Drive. Choose exhibit admission for hands-on exploration. IMAX is a separate choice. Check the current ticket type, child age band and programme before paying.

Make room for wet sleeves and mixed opinions

If your toddler wants to do something rather than look at it, the Science Centre is worth a closer look. Pack dry clothes for the water play that local parents remember, and choose your ticket carefully. An exhibit visit, a film and a late Thursday visit can have quite different costs and rhythms.

A water table was the memorable detail in March 2026 replies. One parent said to bring spare clothes, and another liked the interactive exhibits. Older December 2024 replies were less united: the Science Centre had supporters, but one regular science fan thought it felt dated. Those views can help you set the right aim. Choose it for doing and experimenting together, rather than promising a brand-new attraction at every turn.

With a toddler, the adult’s job is often to slow the visit down. Give a favourite activity time, take dry clothes and leave room for a break. A child who repeats one experiment is still exploring. The museum and conservatory came up in the April 2024 family discussion too, but they offer looking and strolling rather than the same kind of hands-on play.

Choose the experience your child wants

A child who wants to move and try things may prefer the exhibit floor to a long film. Do one main activity first and leave enough time for a break. Bringing spare clothes is a practical response to the parent’s water-play tip, not a promise that every exhibit will be running.

Do not add a film just because you are already in the building. Compare the extra cost and running time against the attention span of the youngest person in your group.

Understand the ticket rules

The official admission page separates Science Centre visits, IMAX documentaries, double features, school bookings and group bookings. Read the category that applies to you. School prices require advance booking on regular school days.

Groups of ten or more can ask about group rates. These do not apply to special events or feature-length IMAX films. The centre also describes free admission for a support person helping a visitor with a permanent disability.

The Thursday price can change the decision

Regular general admission lists adults at $21.99, children aged three to twelve at $17.99 and children two and under free. On Thursday after 5 p.m., the listed admission is $10 for paying age groups. Two adults and one four-year-old therefore total $61.97 at regular entry or $30 in that evening window, before any unconfirmed checkout charges. A cheaper evening is only useful if it suits your child’s bedtime.

Fall hours also matter. Exhibits normally close Monday and Tuesday, open Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m., and weekends noon to 6 p.m. A special October 26 opening is listed from noon to 5 p.m. IMAX has a separate show-based opening pattern. Choose exhibits, a film or the stated same-day combination when buying, so a cheaper film ticket does not become a surprise at the exhibit entrance.
