Walking Wascana Centre this autumn: choose a route around the 2026 notices
Use Wascana Centre’s official map to choose a short route and check notices before walking. A prescribed-burn window runs September 28 to November 27, 2026 at three named areas. A window does not mean a burn occurs every day.

A favourite walk still needs a chosen start
A Wascana walk can be as small as a stretch of path and a place to pause. The autumn planning detail is the prescribed-burn notice, which names several areas within a broad September-to-November window. Choose your start from the map and the day’s signs, rather than trying to repeat a favourite route at any cost.
In the March 2026 exploration discussion, Wascana was one of the recurring answers for someone who did not want a bar-led visit. April 2024 parents also liked the trails when weather suited their children, often with a playground stop. These are different reasons to walk: one person wants an unhurried look around Regina, another needs somewhere a child can move. Neither needs to complete a grand circuit.
Choose the part of Wascana that matches the time and energy you have. The official map is more useful than a broad pin over the whole centre. Mark a start and a return point, then decide where you could shorten the outing. An October breeze across open water can change what feels comfortable. Keep the warm indoor part of a mixed outing tied to that attraction’s own hours.

Read the notice, then make the route
The three named burn areas are Wascana Hill, Prairie Arboretum and Bobolink Field north of Wascana Country Club. Use current signs and staff directions. Do not walk into a closed area to complete a planned loop.
The homepage also carried a Hamilton Street sewer-work notice dated September 28 to October 16. That date is the notice’s stated end, not proof that work has finished. Confirm any route that depends on the affected street.

Have a modest autumn plan
Choose where to start, a turn-back point and the time you want to finish. An autumn walk does not need to cover the whole centre. Bring layers that you can adjust when the wind changes and keep enough daylight for the return.
The official visitor pages link the museum, gallery, Science Centre and Legislative grounds. Each has its own hours. Choose an indoor stop before leaving rather than assuming every nearby attraction is open when the weather turns.

Understand what a burn window means
The September 28 to November 27 notice gives staff a period in which suitable conditions may allow prescribed burns. It is not a promise of smoke every day, and it is not an invitation to go and watch at close range. Named areas include Wascana Hill, Prairie Arboretum and Bobolink Field north of Wascana Country Club. A route through one of those areas needs extra attention to the day’s signs.
If a section is closed, choose a different public route rather than trying to reach the same photo spot from another side. Keep children with the group and give work crews room. People who need to avoid smoke should ask Wascana staff about the intended area before choosing a walk. The office at Wascana Place can answer a location question, but its address is an office destination, not a universal trail entrance. That small distinction prevents an unnecessary drive around a very large place.
