Annual fees and identification
The annual reduced fee is $20 for a cat or $25 for a dog that is sterilized, under six months old, or a show animal with an entry form and receipt. Other cats and dogs cost $100 a year. Replacement tags cost $5.
Dogs must wear their licence tags at all times. A cat with a microchip or legible tattoo does not have to wear a tag. A cat without permanent identification, or with an illegible tattoo, must wear the licence tag.

Apply, renew and update the record
Use the City licence portal to create a profile, choose the licence and pay. The City now requires government-issued photo identification for new and renewal applications. For questions, contact licences@regina.ca.
The City also lists purchase and renewal at Old Fire Hall #1, 1646 11th Avenue, cheque payment through the City Hall overnight slot, or phone payment at 306-777-7717 with a credit card. Renew each year and update the account after a move or if the animal is given away, lost, stolen or dies.

If a pet is found or missing
Animal Protection Officers take stray animals to the Regina Humane Society. The City says the society contacts an owner within 24 hours when a licensed pet can be identified. If your pet has no licence, call the society with its description.
The City lists an impoundment charge, daily charges after three days, and separate running-at-large and unlicensed fines. These can combine, so do not treat the annual licence as the whole cost of recovery. Contact the Humane Society promptly; the City warns unclaimed animals may be put up for adoption or humanely euthanized after three days.
