Know the deadline and the full area to clear

Clear to the sidewalk edges and as close to concrete as possible to create an even walking surface. A corner-lot owner must clear both the front and side sidewalks. Owners remain responsible at rental properties.

The clock begins when snow or rain stops falling, or when the wind stops blowing snow onto the sidewalk. Drifted or built-up snow still needs clearing outside a named snow event. Schedule B of the Clean Property Bylaw identifies the shorter 24-hour downtown area.

Store snow safely and respond to notices

Sidewalk snow may go on adjacent property or along the curb without affecting traffic. Do not shovel or blow it into driving lanes. Driveway and private-walkway snow must remain on the property.

A Notice of Non-Compliance gives a further deadline. If the owner does not comply, the City may have the work done and put the cost on the property-tax account. The amount depends on labour, equipment, snow removal and time, so there is no single fixed contractor fee in the source.

Arrange help or report a problem

The City page lists 11 participating Snow Angels community associations. Each association runs its own service and decides local arrangements. Contact yours to request help or volunteer; this is not a guaranteed citywide snow-removal service.

The public sandbox service ended January 1, 2026 and all public sandboxes were removed. Some older winter pages still link a sandbox map. Use this dedicated current sidewalk page for that change. Report an uncleared sidewalk at 306-777-7000 or online. If City plowing pushes a ridge onto a sidewalk, call Service Regina.
